PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
